Founded in 1960 by Bud Linton as a small farm and ranch store in Powell, Wyoming, Linton’s Big R grew into the premier Wyoming destination for farm, ranch, and general merchandise. In the early 80s, Bud’s son Jim took over as President/CEO, operating out of the Powell corporate headquarters with his brother John in Riverton as COO and General Manager, at one point owning and operating 5 different locations in Wyoming as well as a Repair Shop. In 2012, Jim and his wife Carol expanded to Jackson Hole, opening Big R Ranch and Home, with Robert Mack as General Manager. By 2019, Jim and John had sold their remaining locations to Murdoch’s Ranch and Supply, with Jim and Carol retaining the Jackson Hole location. In 2023, Robert Mack became Minority Owner and Managing Partner of Big R Ranch and Home, with Jim remaining as President/CEO and Carol as Secretary/Treasurer, solidifying their commitment to keeping the business locally owned and operated.
